Marlene Mendoza PT, DPT
Physical Therapist
Marlene Mendoza PT, DPT
Physical TherapistDr. Marlene Mendoza is a San Diego native who earned both her undergraduate and doctoral degrees at San Diego State University. Go Aztecs! Her curiosity of the human body stems from her own experiences as a basketball player; having had an Athletic Trainer as a mentor early on, the exposure to the world of sports medicine allowed her to develop a drive to become a trusting resource for the general population and young athletes to help achieve their physical goals. Through hands-on manual techniques, education, and a selection of personalized therapeutic exercises, she hopes to help you move throughout your daily life in a pain free and efficient manner. Marlene believes everyone deserves individualized care to be physically able to live the life they desire. In addition to working with patients in general outpatient orthopedics, Marlene has experience in stroke recovery and sport populations with a special interest in rehabbing ACL injuries. Outside of the clinic you will likely find Marlene hiking, weightlifting, shopping, or getting her steps in at the Disneyland parks!

Mikayla Brophy PT, DPT
Physical Therapist
Mikayla Brophy PT, DPT
Physical TherapistAs a teenager and young adult, I had no idea what I wanted to do. My Bachelor’s degree took me 10 years because I kept bouncing around between majors trying to find something I enjoyed. When I turned 21 I turned my sedentary lifestyle into an active lifestyle. I started running, had an active job at a dog day care and I ended up losing 60 pounds. I then decided to get my AA in Kinesiology which led me to the Bachelor’s program at San Diego State. When I graduated I knew I wanted to get my Master’s Degree to further my knowledge in the exercise field. During my graduate program I was a teaching assistant and worked as a research assistant at UCSD in exercise related research. I quickly realized, although I loved the jobs I had, research by itself wasn’t for me. Unfortunately in California, an exercise physiology degree doesn’t get you into much apart from research and teaching as exercise physiologist jobs are few and far between. That is when I decided to apply for PT school and was accepted at the University of St. Augustine for the Fall 2020 cohort following the completion of my Masters degree. I didn’t know I wanted to be a physical therapist but when I did my first clinical rotation I knew that I was meant to do this – it just took me a while to figure that out. My passion in physical therapy definitely is in patient care and relating to each one of my patients to help improve their quality of life. I prefer to work with orthopedic cases, especially when helping patients get back to a sport or a recreational activity. I am a runner and used to get frequent running injuries when I first started out. It is difficult physically and emotionally to not be able to do something that you want/need to be able to do – which is why I resonate with these patients the most. I am thrilled to be a part of the All Star team in Ramona where I work with phenomenal peers where we can all collaborate and help each other out to improve treatment strategies and patient care.
